These “Landing Craft Air Cusions” are real monsters! You can skip to about 3:45 in the video if you only want to see the LCAC fire up.

Wrong! Well, almost! The Lcac was funded by the marine corps but maintained and operated by the Navy. At one point the marines wanted to remove NAVY from the side and replace with Marines. I would know, I was in the meeting. I also logged over 2000 hrs flying the Lcac and received my combat action operating lcac 1 during the 1st Gulf war. Served as flight instructor for several years until my retirement. Also, the same can be said about the troop spaces on an amphibious ship. Funded by the marines and maintained by the navy.

These craft never were USMC equipment and never will be. These are United States Navy LCAC’s and believe me I would know I was in the program from 1988-2000.

      Roger that; thanks Anderson!
